Hello there, my name is Lucy! My family loved me very much but due to difficult circumstances asked BBR to find me a new home.  I am a very sweet senior girl and don’t ask for much.  A soft place to rest, a leisurely walk, a good scratch behind my ears and a friend. Well, the occasional ice cream cone won’t be turned down either.  I love people and get along with other dogs.  Well, as long as they don’t try to share my food.  I really love food!  I enjoy walks but prefer they be leisurely.  I don’t like thunderstorms but when I ear my thundershirt they don’t bother me as much.

Dixon comes all the way from the south via the humane society.  When he was not doing well at the shelter he was transferred to BBR.  His age is a mystery, he is as active as a 2 yr old but the vet thinks he may be as old as 5 years.  Dixon is affectionate and lively and has been known to tip over the garbage can or perhaps jump up on the table as he goes exploring. He is house-trained and gets along with other dogs. He loves a good bellyrub!  Do you have room in your home for the southern guy?

Hi, I’m Opie! A nice lady rescued me from someone who was going to shoot me!  Then she called BBR.  I went to a foster home and promptly started telling my foster dad to adopt me. That did not take long because I am such a nice hound.  I am so happy to have a forever home where I will be loved and well taken care of.

This pair of sisters came to BBR just recently, but quickly won over the hearts of their foster home.  They were adopted before they even made it to the website!  Congratulations!

Hi, I’m Hannah! One of my parents was a Basset Hound and one was a Chow Chow. I guess that makes me a Chow Hound! My former family could no longer keep me.  I ended up in boarding for quite a while but now I have come to BBR and I am very happy about that!  Technically I am a senior, but I am a playful and active girl.  I get along well with other dogs and even cats, but may not do well with other small animals as I am quite the bird chaser.  Don’t you love my full, fuzzy coat and the black spots on my tongue? I get those from my Chow Chow side. I get my somewhat stubborn- err I mean independent, and strong minded personality from both sides however, so I do best in a household that knows how to help me be a good girl.  Hannah needs an adult only household.

Hannah in action!

Update on Hannah, 4-5-2014: Hannah is doing great in her foster home.  She loves to go to the dog park and enjoys car rides.  She likes both men and women but has a special fondness for men.  Hannah is kennel trained and has even started going to obedience school.  She is a beautiful and unique looking dog.  We have yet to fully capture her beauty in a picture but we’ll keep trying.  Hannah really wants a playmate as she has lots of energy!

Update on Hannah 5-2014:  Hannah loves to go places and rides well in the car. She does do some pulling on the leash. She is afraid of loud noises like thunderstorms, fireworks and loud trucks. She enjoys walks and the playing at the dog park but would do best in a quieter home setting. She is a smart girl and eager to learn. She does need an experienced dog owner.
