Hey there, I’m Freddie!  My mom loved me very much but was unable to take me with her to the medical care facility she moved in to.  I previously lived with another dog and a cat in my former home and my mom says I am an affectionate couch potato who loves all people and is afraid of vaccums.  My foster dad says I am a real friendly guy who doesn’t cause any trouble (so far, wink!)

Vinny #2061 Adopted 12/31/13!

MaleVinny-new
Age: 2-3 yrs est (DOB 2010)
Weight: 55 lbs

Being fostered in Minnesota

Looks like Vinny has had a difficult life up to now.  He was found by animal control tied to a fence, a bit underweight and with a condition called demodex mange.  Fortunately with food and medicine both conditions can be fixed and his hair will grow back. He is young and energetic and loves to play.  He may be a basset mix or he just may be a basset with shorter ears.  It doesn’t look like Vinny has had any training so he will need a family that can help him learn some manners so he can be at his best.

BBR update 8/28/13: Vinny was at the vet today.  He is doing so well!  The check for mites is totally negative.  They are all gone.  Vinny will continue to receive his medication for a for more weeks to make sure he doesn’t get re-infected.  He is such a happy, energetic and affectionate boy and now weighs 55 lbs!  He is all muscle.

BBR note: Vinny is doing very well on his treatment.  He has been neutered and he now has hair!  His treatment needs to continue for a few more weeks but may be taken on by the adopters if they choose to adopt him now.  It is very easy, he just receives his liquid meds on his breakfast.  Vinny loves to eat so this is a quick process.

Hi, my name is Tiny!  My family could no longer care for me so they brought me to a shelter.  I was there for a while but fortunately a BBR volunteer found out about me and brought me to a foster home.  I am a friendly and energetic guy and I love to play chase, and wrestle with other dogs I meet at the dog park.  I could play for hours!  Especially with cute basset girls like my foster sister. I do not live with kids currently, but I have been very friendly with the ones I have met in my neighborhood.  I have not lived with cats.  I can manage the stairs just fine but a long uncarpeted trip down makes me nervous.  I am working on leash training and getting better on my walks.  Nothing scares me, not even that crazy vacuum! I hope I find a forever family that can give me lots of attention and exercise and  hopefully a 4-legged playmate!

Tiny needs an active family that will provide him with plenty of daily exercise and mental stimulation. He would be happiest living with at least one other active dog and would be happy in a multiple dog home. Tiny would probably enjoy some obedience classes.  He is a happy-go-lucky, active, affectionate little hound. He loves playing, going for walks, rides in the car and once he is tired out, cuddling up. He is crate trained, but only goes in when he has to. Tiny has a distinctive profile and a funny gait due to being hit by a car at an early age. But not to worry, his nose works just great and is quite the little speed demon!

Hello, my name is Daisy! I came to BBR because my family did not have the time to give me that they know I deserve.  I am a shy girl and take a bit to warm up to strangers, but if you are nice, it doesn’t take long before I will let you rub my belly!  I have lived with other dogs and cats, although I was a bit afraid of one dog in my old home.  Because of that I spent a lot of time outdoors, but my foster mom will tell you that I am housetrained.  I am also crate trained and know some basic commands.  Riding in the car makes me fuss a bit, and I have been a picky eater because I originally lived in a home that didn’t feed me properly (I have had several homes in my short life).  I sure do like bones and toys though! I also like to help my foster mom with the gardening and laundry, because I want her too see what a great girl I am.  Hopefully you will see it too!

Hey there, my name is Bogie! Sadly, I was left behind when my family moved.  They sent me to a shelter, then BBR took me in.  I previously lived with a child and another dog, but I don’t care for cats.  I also live with a dog in my foster home.  However, we both want to be the alpha male in our house which makes my foster mom think I would do best with a very submissive dog or preferable as the only dog in the house. I especially love people, so much that my foster mom said I can be like velcro…but I’m not too sure what that is.  I am house trained and crate trained and I am used to having a fenced yard.  However, my previous owners did not get me out for the walks that I need so I need a family who can do that as well as regulate my food so I can shed a few pounds.  I also need to eat alone as I will try to steal the other dog’s food, I just love it so much! I can get really worked up even if I see my foster mom making food that isn’t for me, so she puts me out of the kitchen when she is cooking. My foster mom has been walking me and I really enjoy it. I am working on some manners as no one really worked with me before.  I also just learned how to use something called “stairs” so that was a new experience for me.  My foster mom says I am fitting in to my current household like I have always lived there.  I bet I could do that at your house to!

On Bogie’s first vet visit with BBR, the doctor discovered a heart murmur.  The murmur has been looked into repeatedly since the initial visit and Bogie has a leaky mitral valve which is not uncommon as dogs age.  He does not appear to have any enlargement or disease of the heart, and is healthy at this time.  However, his future family does need to be aware of the murmur as a baseline should he develop problems later in life.
