After several days of refusing to eat and not acting like herself, Bo’s foster family sought medical care and discovered a large mass on her spleen.  While awaiting biopsy results it became clear Bo’s suffering was becoming too great for her to have any quality of life, and her mom and dad made the difficult choice of saying goodbye.  BBR is grateful to the loving foster parents who gave Bo a home and family when she was in need of one.

Hi, my name is Bo.  My owner passed away which is how I ended up with BBR.  I am a friendly, easy going, fluffy older girl. I get along with other dogs and cats and live with two dogs in my foster home, but my foster mom thinks I would be best placed with a male dog or submissive female.  She thinks I would also be fine as an only dog.  I don’t have experience with kids.  Someone has always been home with me much of the day.   I hear I need to lose a few pounds, but I think I am just “big-boned”. With the nice weather, I am going for walks twice a day which I LOVE. I move along at a good clip and have already taken off a couple of pounds. I have the tendency to bark at other dogs on our walk so please be careful with me around other dogs.

I LOVE my humans. I am very snuggly, but not big on kissing. I am completely housebroken and have never had an accident in my foster home. I have lots of energy for a gal my age so please consider adding me to your home.

Note from foster pop “We found that Bo loves kids and is very gentle.  She is a star when we take her on a walks. Most people don’t know what a Basset is and they come to pet her.  Bo loves it she doesn’t jump on them or lick faces she just stands and enjoys.”

Hope you find your forever home real soon. Hugs from your Senior Pawtner, Abby!

Introducing a cute little girl named Isabel!  Isabel found herself at the pound when her owners could no longer care for her.  She was a little overwhelmed there and was very happy to join BBR and move into a foster home. She is a round little basset/beagle mix who needs to lose a few pounds. Her ideal weight will probably be 33-35lbs. She will be getting a dental soon as her teeth have been neglected. She is a city girl but her foster home is in the country so she is learning a lot about having lots of 4-legged friends.  This is what her foster mom says about Isabel:

She’s super sweet and smart. 100% potty trained can use a doggie door. Likes to lay on furniture and on human beds at night. Likes to bark at cats and alpaca. She likes pets and to cuddle. She is pretty passive. Would be fine with an alpha female. Loves car rides. She snores!

Introducing Sam, a very handsome guy! He has lived with a smaller dog and cats and even teenagers. He is crate trained and loves his walks.  He is generally sweet and docile.   He does love his food though and can get a bit grouchy about sharing any goodies.

Chloe is back with BBR.  She originally joined us as a youngster when someone in my family realized they were allergic to her.  Her adopters loved her very much but realized she was a bit too much dog for them and contacted BBR so we could look for just the right match for this beautiful basset.  Chloe is looking for a family where she will get lots of exercise and where they can set some gentle, but firm house rules for her.  She has a tendency to try and take over if she is not sure who is in charge.  Chloe is doing well in her foster home and enjoys playing with her large sized foster siblings!  We think Chloe would be happiest in a home with another dog so she has a playmate. Chloe does have some joint abnormalities but they don’t seem to slow her down. Her foster mom calls her a “ Border Collie in a Basset body“.  Chloe should be kept on a good joint supplement for life to help keep her joints as healthy as possible and she needs to stay trim.  Enjoy her video below.
