Hello, my name is Millie!  I was adopted from BBR once before back in 2008.  Unfortunately, the family I was living with since then has split up and no one really had the time to care for me any more.  That was making me unhappy so now I am looking for a new home.  The nice thing is I was able to return to my original foster home.  Not sure if I remember then exactly but they say I’m still the same ‘ol Millie!  I’m a spunky, curious gal who enjoys walking and playing.  Since I am a longer legged basset, getting around is easy for me.  Of course, I am not as young as I was the first time around so I do my fair share of sleeping and snuggling.  I like the other dogs and the kids as well, though I would be best with kids passed the pacifier/bottle stage.  I am way too interested in chewing those things which could really hurt me.  Otherwise, I have not bothered with the kids toys or stuffed animals at all.

I love getting my ears cleaned!  I will lay my head right down on your lap.  Oh, and I get so excited at meal times.  Which reminds me, I am an excellent counter surfer.  So if that cake isn’t meant for me, please keep it where I can’t reach, my sniffer has no self control!  I am a happy girl as long as people are home but I get anxious when they leave.  I am not destructive but I will howl and pace, and generally get sad.  I was also peeing in the house when left all day, but I’m not having that problem in my foster home since I am only alone a few hours a day.  I’m just too interested in life to be left alone with nothing to do all day.  Yes, I have a few quirks, but foster mom says I am a great catch.  She wants to find me a home where people are frequently around and are looking for an interactive dog to get out and about with.  I’m great in the car as well.

Hi, my name is Sophie!  I was being passed around amongst family members who could not care for me and eventually one of them contacted BBR.  So far I am timid and sweet.  Belly rubs are the best.  I like the other dogs but I am easily intimidated so I prefer just to follow after them, not the other way around.  I am doing well with the human girls in my house, and like to snuggle.  I’m eating ok but get really excited when I know people food is around.  I lay on my belly in the bath making it kind of hard to wash me (ha ha ha!) I will go out potty but outdoors are more fun when my people come too.  I am soft and fuzzy.  I could probably lose a few pounds.  My front legs are super stumpy.  I have an appointment at the vet today and I heard I will probably need a dental cleaning-I hope I want that.  Check back in a few days for updates on me!

Hi, I’m Lola!  I came to BBR as a transfer from Dane County Humane Society with my housemate Diva. Our owner was hospitalized and could no longer care for us. It turned out we were not a bonded pair.  While I am the more timid between us two, I really didn’t need her for support.  I was very nervous and had a hard time at the shelter.  I became more confident when I got into my temporary foster home.  There were a lot of dogs there already however, and that was a little overwhelming.  Since getting into my new foster home with one dog and one cat, I have really blossomed. I am less timid and more playful and I’m even playing with the cat who seems to think chase is not a fun game.  Go figure.

Like Diva, I came in to the shelter with infected ears and skin which have improved considerably but there is still some work to be done.  I also am undergoing treatment for a lyme infection and need a dental cleaning and lump removed.  I take arthritis medication which has me quite comfortable so I can be active.  Overall I am doing pretty well for a senior gal and I am as sweet as can be.

Hello, my name is Diva!  Foster mom thinks I am appropriately named as I like to have the attention and prefer things to go my way.  I came to BBR as a transfer from Dane County Humane Society with my housemate Lola.  Our owner was hospitalized and could no longer care for us.  It turned out we were not a bonded pair.  I am quite confident and independent.

I am doing well with the other dogs in my home.  I wouldn’t mind playing and running but they are pretty old and don’t do much.  I like to go sniff around the yard and investigate on my own.  I’m very inquisitive and smart.  I also like the human girls in my home and they like me.  Though I’ve tried stealing some of their stuffed animals and they didn’t think it was too funny.  I like meal times and napping too.  I play fetch and will RETURN the ball, which my foster mom didn’t know bassets could do!

When I came in my skin and ears were rather infected, but I am doing much better now-just a little skin inflammation left in my arm pits and neck.  I have another week of medication for that and a special shampoo I use.  I also tested positive for lyme and have a month of treatment for that.  I also had discolored urine at Dane County so they did a bunch of tests and all they came up with was a thickened bladder wall which likely indicated inflammation there, so that is the last thing I am currently being treated for.  You wouldn’t know I am on all these medications though because I seem very healthy and fit.  And I should be much better soon.
