Hello, my name is Bosco! My family brought me to BBR because they didn’t have time for me with a new baby, new job and new house. Also, I used to have a fenced yard to play in but the new house didn’t. I have lived with kids and other dogs. Cats too, but I would chase them so a home without might be best. I’m a bit finicky at meal times and liked to bring my dish into the dinning room myself so I could eat with the family. I have been alone 7-8 hours a day without a problem, though more recently someone has been home most of the day. I’m pretty good on a leash but get excited about other dogs or people.

Molly #2112-Adopted 1/31/14

Female010
Age:4 month est.
Weight:
Basset/Lab Mix

Being fostered in Wisconsin.

Hello, my name is Molly! Recently I was picked up as a stray by animal control and when no one came to get me I got a foster home with BBR. My foster mom believes someone was working with me previously as I am smart and well behaved. I am working through some ear infections and a respiratory infection from being out alone when it was so bitterly cold. I seem to be a mix of some kind and right now its hard to guess because I am so young but basset/lab mix is the consensus for the time being.

Note from foster mom: Molly is a sweet girl who loves life. She has such an easy going go with the flow attitude. She is good on a leash, knows how to sit and listens very well in general. When I take her out she reminds me of a fox because she is about that size and the same color. She is really good about only chewing on bones and her rope toy. At night, she will curl up in bed with anyone who will let her and cuddle right until morning when it’s time to get up. We are working on crate training for when we have to go away during the day or evening. We are also working on potty training but and she is about 75% trained I would say. She gets along really well with the younger of her foster brothers and knows to give space to the old one.

Weight: 28 lbs. (underweight)
Mix

Being fostered in Wisconsin.

Hello, my name is Honey! BBR took me in when another rescue was not able to provide the care and foster home I needed. They said I was a basset mix but some old vet records have me down as a cocker spaniel. My new vet thinks maybe I am a spaniel/beagle mix. He also guessed my age at 8-10 years, but my foster mom says I act more like 5 :) I can run up and down stairs with no problem and love to walk. I get so excited that I do pull at first but will settle down. I am a sweet, timid girl, although so far the only thing I truly dislike is the vacuum and broom. I am lucky to have found a nice place to stay, with other furry siblings that I really want to play with. But when no one wants to play I am happy to chase my own tail for entertainment! My foster mom also has grandkids that come to visit and I love them all, from 10 months to 12 years! My foster mom is working hard to potty train me as it seems no one bothered to do that before. I don’t love the cold, but do you blame me?! I just had surgery to remove some tumors as well as some much needed dental work. Now that my mouth is not so sore I should be able to get to a healthier weight.

Honey greets everyone as if they might be her new forever owners. She is not your typical basset in looks or in personality. She never barks or whines, loves the snow and eats very little and is not food motivated.

Introducing Charlie, a sweet, shy basset hound – cocker spaniel mix. Charlie came from a hoarding situation where he was raised in a group of dogs with minimal human interaction.  He is considered special needs for this reason.  Charlie is very comfortable with dogs but shy with humans, especially men.  When he first came to BBR Charlie did not want to be touched by anyone.  Now he will seek out the company of the people he knows and happily accepts a chin scratch.  Charlie would be happiest in a quiet adult home with another dog buddy or two to keep him company.

Suzie #1707-Adopted 2/8/2014

FemaleSuzie1
Age: 9 yrs.
Weight: 62 lbs.

Being fostered in Wisconsin.

Hello, my name is Suzie! I have been doing very well in my new foster home so far and I am proving myself to be a very, very sweet girl. I have adjusted quickly to my place in the household. I have been playful with other dogs in my foster home and like to instigate play time, although I used to be an only dog in my former home. Because of this I tend to do well with more submissive personalities. I also like to play with people. Either way, when I am done I like plenty of nap time. I have not lived with cats before so it would probably be better for me to find a home without cats unless it was one of those silly ones that wants to hide all the time anyway. As a middle aged gal I am looking for a home with older kids only. I do love food! So much so that I really need more walks so I can lose weight. Almost 30 lbs. according to my vet! My diet is currently being supplemented with lots of vegetables. It would also be good if I could be fed separately from other dogs so my food intake can be carefully monitored. I do find food to be a very motivating factor for training purposes.

Note from foster mom: Suzie wants to tell you something very important: “My other family did not let me be on the bed but my new foster mom is okay with it and I absolutely LOVE sleeping, napping and snuggling on the big bed!!  I will share it with my humans and other dogs but it is my favorite spot besides a sunbeam!”  What she did not tell you is that she especially likes to burrow UNDER the covers, sometimes all the way to the foot of the bed.  I have had to check from time to time to be sure she is not suffocating under there!    Suzie gives lots of great eye contact and loves to snuggle. She loves walks and has great manners both on a leash and in the house. She will tell you in no uncertain terms when she needs to go outside. Other than that she is not very noisy – unless she sees another dog outside or a mailman. She seems able to bond quickly and to be devoted to her people and become a part of your life. She is very low maintenance.  All in all, this little girl would be a devoted friend for life if you would open your arms, your heart, and your bed to her.  She has been loved all her life and it shows.  Please take another look at this goofy girl!  She deserves a great home with a big bed!
