I’ve been hugged by Kaitlyn!

Hello, my name is Gloria!  My previous owner was not able to be home much so I am looking for a new home.  I was spending most of my time either at Doggie Day Care or a kennel.  I am obviously used to being around other dogs, and I have been around cats as well.  Foster mom says I am a doll, and she seems happy about it so I won’t correct her.  She says I am quiet too.  I need a family that can get me back in shape as I have gotten quite over weight.  Foster mom is getting me to walk a little further each day.  I am losing some weight and can manage stairs again.   I also need someone to be home a fair amount as I need to go pee-pee more often than the average dog.  I am on medication to help with that.  I don’t like storms or fireworks but I hear those are scary for lots of other dogs too.  I am interested in food, naps, and car rides.  I do have a heart murmur but again, that isn’t unusual in an older gal.  Well, that’s basically the scoop on me so far.

To adopt me, please will out the adoption form here.

Toby #2170-Adopted November 2016

Age: 10 1/2 years

Fostered in Wisconsin

☆•*¨*•.¸Hug me!¸.•*¨*•☆

Hello, my name is Toby!    I  came to  BBR  because my former family realized they could not afford a dog.  That family had gotten me off Craigslist 6 months prior.  Not sure why anyone would give me up.  Foster mom says I am a hunk of love.  That sounds pretty good, right?  She also says I have good energy for my age and can keep up with the family.  I get along with kids, cats, and other dogs so basically a trifecta of perfect.  I’ve been loose in the house during the day without issue,  I’m nice on a walk, and generally a real gentleman all around.  I can still handle stairs fine.

Notes from foster mom:

He is extremely good around kids. He tolerates all the bear hugs and him being used a pillow well.
He attempts to play at times with the other dogs but he also understands when they tell him “no” that he needs to stop.
He is interested in one of our cats who doesn’t like new dogs but the other 2 cats he leaves alone.  He can do a full flight of stairs just fine. Although can be stubborn in going down the steps when it’s time to go outside.
For the most part he is good on a leash. But he is a hound and when he sees/smells something he wants he can pull.
been a few pecking order type spats with the other dogs but nothing major.  We are an on-the-go family with 2 young kids. We go for walks 3-4 times a day and Toby is right by the door ready to go every time.  Toby hasn’t been fearful of anything, but he can snap if his sleep is interrupted when he isn’t ready to get up.  Toby is an awesome dog. He wants to be by your side at all times. He has the energy of a younger dog but he can also be very calm. He will fit perfectly into pretty much any household!

If you are looking to adopt Toby, please fill out the adoption application and get approved!

Stewie #2282 Adopted 10/09/16!

Age: 8 months (D.O.B. est 2/2016)

Weight: 26 lbs

Being fostered in Minnesota.

Introducing Stewie, a very smart and very sweet little Basset Hound mix.  Foster mom thinks he may also have a little beagle and a little pug in his background as well. Stewie is recovering from major orthopedic surgery on both of his front legs. They weren’t growing right and it was already causing him lots of pain.  The bones still need to do some healing for about another month before he will be ready for adoption. His first post surgery checkup was good and he will have another checkup in September. At that time the vet will decide whether or not Stewie is ready to get adopted. There is a chance that additional surgery may be needed.  BBR wants to thank Blue Pearl Veterinary clinic for helping Stewie!

9/15/16 Update on Stewie: BBR is very happy to announce that both of Stewie’s post surgery checkups have been great! He is now ready to start interviewing forever families. The vet is optimistic that Stewie will not need additional surgery, though we won’t know for sure until he’s older. He will need a family that is will keep him at a healthy weight, give him appropriate exercise, provide joint supplements and of course give him lots of love.  Stewie won’t be a candidate for agility work but he will have a good life. His foster mom thinks he has a special aptitude for being a therapy dog. He has a calm, playful and affectionate personality and he’s very smart. That face could brighten anyone’s day.

Hush #2286-Adopted 2/7/17!

Hush has been adopted by her loving foster mom!

Age: 14 yrs (D.O.B. est 2002)

Weight: 68

Being fostered in Minnesota.

This sweet-natured senior needs a forever home! She settled in quickly at her foster home and gets along with everyone she meets, dogs, cats, and people.  She is currently being treated for ear and skin infections and not surprisingly has some arthritis, but otherwise she seems to be in very good health. She enjoys a gentle stroll outside, a soft place to lay her head, a good belly rub and of course some goodies to munch on! Well, maybe a few less goodies than she’s had in the past because she does need to lose a few pounds.

Owen (Max) #296-Adopted April 2017

Age: 13.5 years

☆•*¨*•.¸Hug me!¸.•*¨*•☆☆

Hello, my name is Owen.  I was adopted from BBR once before but my owners recently surrendered me to a shelter in pretty rough shape, and I really didn’t like it there at the shelter.  They contacted BBR and now I’m doing much better in foster care.  I had to go to the vet to see what could be done to help me.  I was positive for lyme, plus some arthritis so I got on medication for those things.  They also found a slight heart murmur and a sore mouth that needed cleaning.  I got some nasty teeth pulled.  Now I can eat, and I love food.  My eyesight isn’t what it used to be and the depth perception is limited so I can get frightened by things coming at me.  I do wear a belly band for a little bit of urine dribble.  I am a senior, it happens.  Foster mom says now I love attention and ear scratches and I am a sweet boy.  If you are looking for a little buddy to keep you company, fill out the adoption application here.
