Recently Harley’s foster mom had to make the tough decision to let her go to the bridge due to failing health and increased discomfort.  She was well cared for in her final 7 months, and enjoyed a last super at McDonalds.  Though we miss each senior as his or her time comes, there is comfort in knowing the pain cannot reach them any longer.  RIP Harley.

Hello, I am Jefferson!  Although I just arrived into foster care, I already can tell you one funny story about me!  When volunteers picked me up with my brother and sister, they were told that Archie and I were boys, and Alice was a girl.  My foster home was calling me by my new name Jefferson all night and part of the next day.  Imagine their surprise when I rolled over for a belly rub and they discovered I am actually a girl!  However, for now I am sticking with Jefferson until my new family decides what they may like to call me.  So far, I am shy, yet braver than my siblings.  I have a long body, but longer legs too, so I am also more agile than they are.  I am very curious and like to investigate, and like to leave Archie in the dust when he gets too shy to explore with me.  I am very quiet, but my foster mom laughs at the sounds I make when getting comfy for a nap-kinda like letting the air out of a tire I guess.  I love meal time, wrestle time, snuggle time, nap time, exploring the yard, chewing on bones and especially people.  I have met lots of new dogs and am very interested in them, but they have not been as much fun to play with as my brother.  Bath time and nail trims are not so great but I allow it.

Hello, my name is Archie.  Like my sister Alice, I am more of a shy guy.  I tend to let Jefferson check things out first, but then I love chasing after her.  So far I am the noisiest sibling because I like to bark at Jefferson when she takes my toys or leaves me behind.  However, I have been overall still very quiet.  I love to snuggle and will climb right up on your lap.  I have tiny little legs so everything is a bit of a challenge right now.  The outdoors is full of great smells and I love running around so much out there I don’t always want to come in.  I get excited about everything and wag my tail a whole lot.  I do get intimidated by the crabby old dogs in my foster home.  They forgot what it feels like to be young!

Hello, my name is Alice.  I am a gentle, quiet little girl so far.  I am easily startled by sudden movements and loud noises.  But I am a puppy too, so I enjoy my time chasing after my foster siblings as well.  When I am not doing that I enjoy snuggle time with the little boys in my foster family.  Especially now that I have figured out how to get my tiny legs and long body up onto the couch!  My foster family is working on crate training me which might be helpful to my forever family.  Ok, so I like grown ups, kids, and other pets, but my true love is…..SOCKS! The stinkier the better, and I am not afraid to dig them out of the hamper!  Some lucky family is going to have cold feet this winter!

Hello, I’m Tess!  I spent most of my life so far in a puppy mill so I am just now learning about being part of a family.  I have found a lot of comfort in my kennel, but I am perfectly happy to share it with my new foster brother.  I get nervous and cower when approached, but getting pet is the best so I am happy to let anyone do that.  But do expect to get my sad face if you decide its time to stop!  However, so many things are new and scary to me, even simple things like the crunching of leaves.  I am looking for a home that will understand what I have been through, and will continue teaching me about the world, and how to be brave.  I would also like another playmate since the one I have now has been such a comfort to me.

Update 11/19

Tess was around young kids this weekend. She did very well and there were no concerns. Unless we are gone or sleeping, Tess is opting to spend most of her day outside of the kennel. She has figured out that the couch and bed are much more comfortable places to nap. She has also gotten comfortable enough to sleep on a human lap with her foster brother.  Anytime he has a prime napping spot, Tess will just lay on top of him!

She has also been to the dog park a few times. It was a bit scary for her at first and she would run away from the dogs. After a few minutes of her crying/howling. Her foster brother then went to comfort her and together they rejoined the dog pack. By the end of each visit she was actively engaging with the dogs and their owners. I think she discovered that more humans equals more petting!  Tess will now jump into a vehicle and is happy to go exploring.  Regarding potty training, we are still working on it and she is averaging about 1 accident every other day.  Tess is really a very nice girl.
