In memory of Dottie who has gone to the Bridge. This senior basset was found wandering down the road on July 4th, 2012, a very, very hot day. Kind people picked her up and called impound. She was on hold for the required time limit. Local volunteers visited her and tried to make her more comfortable but they could tell she was ill. As soon as BBR was allowed, she was picked up and brought right to the vet. The volunteers named her Dottie. The vet gave her fluids and started treatment for ear infections. They said she was in organ failure and frail. Dottie went to a loving BBR foster home. The first day she slept but the next day it was clear that she was in great pain so a BBR volunteer brought her back to the vet. Her condition had worsened. The vet determined that poor Dottie was suffering from both advanced cancer and organ failure. We could not help her and we could not ease her pain, so we comforted her and helped her leave for the bridge. Dottie was only with BBR for 2 days but she was loved and will not be forgotten.
