TEMPERAMENT & BEHAVIOR
Exposure to children? Yes
What ages were the children? Lives with a 3 and 10 year old
Describe the dog’s reaction to children: likes them, nervous around them, etc Peyton has had exposure to all ages over the age of 3 and has been a perfect gentleman. I know he would also be excellent with babies as nothing seems to bother him.
Good with other dogs? Yes
Comments about behavior with other dogs: PERFECT!!!
Good with cats? Unknown
Comments about behavior with cats: I believe he would be good with cats because when we were at the vet there were 2 cats there and he could have cared less.
Good with birds, parrots, etc. Unknown
Good with other pets Yes
List type of pets, and comments about behavior with other pets Peyton has met many other dogs, all different sizes, while on a walk and enjoyed meeting them. Was perfect, never barked, never pulled on the leash, showed no aggression at all. Another dog stayed for a weekend with Peyton and he did fine. Was told he lived with a smaller dog in past home.
Can climb stairs? Yes
Comments about stairs: We live in a ranch style home so he doesn’t go up and down too often. He will go to the basement once in a while with us and to go outdoors he has 3 stairs to go down. With that said he does not prefer stairs and will opt to go out the door that only has one step.
Pulls on a leash? No
Comments about pulling on a leash: I prefer to use the harness on him but have taken him for a walk using his collar and does fine.
Food aggressive? No
Comments about food aggressiveness: My kids can even be by him when he is eating a treat and he is FINE. One time I thought he had a toy in his mouth so I went to get it and it was a raw hide… he never even said boo about it just let me have it… he was very excited that I gave it back to him for being so well behaved.
Has allergies? Unknown
Type of family life? Doesn’t care
List anything the dog is afraid of : We were told he did not like thunderstorms but haven’t had any storms since he has been staying with us.
Tell us about your foster basset: Peyton is the most wonderful dog I have ever met. He is great with everyone he meets. He sits perfect when having his nails trimmed, ears cleaned, and even when being examined by the vet. When he had his vaccines he never even made a peep… Loves the attention I think. Currently he is on Prednisone for an ear infection but is slowly being taken off and that is a big reason for his weight. He loves to go for walks or just sit around the house with you. Peyton would make the ideal house mate for any type or size of family.
