Good with other dogs? No
Comments about behavior with other dogs: Wendell does not do well with bigger dogs, especially if they are black…he is tolerant and does play with the smaller female dogs at his foster home. A trial period/get to know you is recommended for homes with another dog.
Good with cats? Unknown
Good with birds, parrots, etc: Unknown
Good with other pets: Unknown
Can climb stairs? Yes
Comments about stairs: He climbs a short flight of stairs (about 6) when going to and from the vet and doesn’t seem to have any issue with them.
Pulls on a leash? Yes
Comments about pulling on a leash: Wendell is VERY strong and does not have appropriate leash training at this time. He has good possibilities with an experienced trainer.
Food aggressive? Yes
Comments about food aggressiveness: Wendell does not like other dogs getting around his food but has shown no adversity to human intervention. He is currently fed in his crate as all the dogs are in this home.
Has allergies? No
Type of family life? Quiet
Comments about family life: Wendell’s foster home is pretty quiet, for most of the day. Wendell loves to look out the window and will bark at the other dogs and wildlife.
List anything the dog is afraid of: Nothing we have discovered yet.
Tell us about your foster basset: Wendell is a very loving boy! He likes to play with his toys and loves to run in his enclosed yard; however, he does well on a tie-out as well. He will be a very special companion to the right forever family (without a big dog).
