Exposure to children?  Yes

What ages were the children?  Rudy has been around children ages 3 and older.

Describe the dog’s reaction to children:  Rudy loves children! For the most part he is very gentle although because of his size I would suggest he be adopted by a family with kids over the age of 6 years.

Good with other dogs?  Yes

Comments about behavior with other dogs:  Rudy loves to play! He would love to have a doggie companion that is basically the same age or younger with whom he can romp and play with.

Good with cats?  Yes

Comments about behavior with cats:  Rudy has interacted with the cats at his foster home and pays them no mind after giving them a once over sniff.

Good with birds, parrots, etc:  Unknown

Good with other pets:  Unknown

List type of pets, and comments about behavior with other pets:  Rudy has not been exposed to other small animals while at our home.

Can climb stairs?  Yes

Comments about stairs:  He flies up and down them! Rudy is a bit long legged so stairs are not an issue.

Pulls on a leash?  Yes

Comments about pulling on a leash:  Rudy does best when a “Gentle Leader” collar or “Halti” style leash is used. He does pull but is easily corrected. He just needs more experience on a leash to fine tune his walking etiquette.

Food aggressive?  No

Comments about food aggressiveness:  He has been fed with our bassets as well as hand fed by us. He has shown no signs of food aggression.

Has allergies?  No

List allergies and any related comments:  No known allergies in his history.

Type of family life?  Active

Comments about family life:  Rudy is a very energetic hound! He would love to find a family who is also active and will include him in their day!

List anything the dog is afraid of:  No known fears.

Tell us about your foster basset:  Rudy is a very loving hound. He loves spending time outside and would best be adopted by an active family with a fenced back yard. His ability to fit into a new environment is amazing! He acts as if he has always been in our home and respects the already established pack order of the other dogs. His tail is always wagging 100 mph and he has a grin on his face constantly! Rudy loves to play fetch and is hoping to find a family with kids he can call his very own to play with. He is guaranteed to make a wonderful addition to any family!
