Bonded pair – Being fostered in Illinois
Exposure to children? No
Describe the dog’s reaction to children: Foster home does not have any children. During transport to their foster home, the dogs were exposed to another volunteer’s children and Snoopy was afraid of the children. It would probably be best to put them in an adult only home or with older children.
Good with other dogs? Yes
Comments about behavior with other dogs: Both dogs are ok with other dogs but they need to be watched. Would definitely recommend that they be the only dogs in their new home.
Good with cats? Unknown
Good with birds, parrots, etc: Unknown
List type of pets, and comments about behavior with other pets: No other animals at foster home.
Can climb stairs? Yes
Comments about stairs: No known issues. At their past home, Edgar and Snoopy were kept in the basement and they had no problems with stairs.
Pulls on a leash? Unknown
Comments about pulling on a leash: Foster home has a fenced in yard so both don’t get a lot of leash time.
Food aggressive? No
Has allergies? Yes
List allergies and any related comments: Snoopy is allergic to dye that is used in dog bone biscuits. He can’t eat the colored ones such as green, red, etc.; he can only eat the plain or no colored ones.
Type of family life? Quiet
Comments about family life: Foster home is pretty quiet as far as people going in and out but very active as far as other dogs.
List anything the dog is afraid of: Edgar can have issues at times with other dogs but for the most part he is fine – just needs to be watched. Snoopy does whine and bark for about 10-15 min. after being put in a crate when it is time for his foster Mom to go to work.
Tell us about your foster basset: Edgar and Snoopy are definitely a bonded pair and need to be adopted together. They are still very young and have quite a bit of puppy left in them and need quite a bit of training. With the right training they will make wonderful dogs. Both are crate trained. They don’t like to stay outside, even if the weather is nice, they do prefer to be inside.
