Reiley #1286

Male
Age: 13 yrs. (DOB 3/16/99)
Weight: 58 lbs
Being fostered in Wisconsin
Reason for Relinquishment:
Owner is a Military family. Husband is on active-duty, and wife is expecting another baby. With all the changes, they just don’t have the time to spend with Reiley that he deserves.

Reiley had been with the same family since he was a 6-week old pup.
He is house-trained, and was raised around cats and kids.

However, as an older hound, Reiley’s senses aren’t what they used to be. Because of this and his age, he can sometimes get a bit “cranky” when startled. Because of this, he would do best in a home without toddlers / small children.

Foster Home Evaluation (January 20, 2009)

Reiley is the definition of a Basset Hound; Stubborn, mischievous – yet so much fun. He will need an experienced basset owner

He lives with cats and dogs and gets along well with both
He has the most beautiful Basset bark. But don’t worry, he doesn’t talk much
His favorites are sleeping and eating
He LOVES tennis balls and stuffed animals
He acts like a puppy when it is feeding time

He gets so excited when he sees his leash, he loves to walk, to be honest there isn’t much walking. He loves to stop and smell everything, his nose definitely works well!

He is learning some new commands and is a fast learner when treats are involved.

He has exhibited some guarding with food and treasures but is already doing better with his foster family.

He does the cutest thing with his bones – Rather than chewing them up, he hides them in the couch cushions! So far we have only found two so I know that we will have surprises in the future.
